After School and Holiday Clubs
We are thrilled to say that our school offers two after-school clubs, each consisting of 12 sessions, and a summer and Easter club, all with the support and funding from Active Essex. The clubs are designed to help our students stay active and provide additional support to access sports.
The after-school club offers a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Indoor games include sensory circuits, parachute games, Hoops, balance boards, indoor bowling, and obstacle fun, Outdoor activities include tennis, running/walking, multi-sports, tag rugby and football on the MUGA pitch, basketball, go-karts, and bikes (depending on the weather). Our staff provides support for the unique needs of our students, and the club focusses on a multi-sensory approach to activities, sensory exploration, and physio development.
Our highly trained staff members work to provide the best possible care for our pupils. During the Easter break and the first two weeks of the summer holidays (subject to funding), we offer our holiday club. The club runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and requires students to bring a packed lunch. Activities include bouncy castles, bikes and go-karts, sensory circuits, hydro-therapy, and occasional off-site visits. Each day, we create a person-centred activity timetable for the students, grouped by school strand, to ensure they receive the best possible support.
Please note that our clubs are exclusive to Shorefields students and are held on the school site, with occasional off-site community visits. The clubs are for children between the ages of 4 and 18 and are run by our Well-being Practitioner, Leah Smith, and our PE Leader, Emma Adlington-Lee. Our on-site nurse is also in attendance for all sessions to support the children when needed.
Our clubs provide students with the opportunity to enjoy a range of sporting activities during the holidays. The clubs are well-staffed each day with appropriately trained staff working with students. Staff members are matched to students from their strand to provide the best level of support and continuity of care.
